Dr. Dave and his wife see Earth, Wind and Fire in what he calls the best live show he has ever attended, while listener Sarah later describes Computer Talk as the perfect blend of technology, humor and social insight. Throughout the episode, Dr. Dave pushes back against hype, warning that impressive publicity can make weak technology difficult to judge honestly. Municipal Wi-Fi becomes his example of treating technology as a magical cure for problems that are really economic and institutional, while Bluetooth and Zigbee show his insistence that consumers care about whether something works rather than the fashionable standard behind it. He also catches himself losing perspective on people with older computers after counting the many devices and services in his own life.
