With Cub Scouts visiting the studio, Dr. Dave jokes through the family’s allergies and says coming in to do Computer Talk makes him feel great even when he feels poorly elsewhere. A caller trying to rescue stacked files from an obsolete Bernoulli drive leads Dr. Dave from a practical compatible-computer recovery plan into the science and history of the air bearing beneath the removable disk. During a discussion of power hungry computers and competing optical formats, he argues that technology has been turned upside down when people chase it for ego or status instead of making it serve them. Near the close, Evil Steve says that he and Dr. Dave think alike because they are brothers who work together, and Dr. Dave remembers a Navy pilot having to kick an A-6 navigation disk assembly back into operation while evading missiles.
