March 17, 2007

A loose opening shaped by the Davis-Monthan air show gives Dr. Dave and Evil Steve room to call the roar of local aircraft the sound of freedom, while the brothers proudly celebrate Dr. Dave's son Nick's first Pee Wee Wildcats touchdown. Dr. Dave says his position on a company can change as circumstances change because he has to deal with what is, and a baffling printer problem leads him to describe expertise as the accumulated experience of confronting every possible problem. An air-show memory of a B-52 climbing almost straight upward gives way to a serious data-recovery call in which Dr. Dave carefully explains how uncertainty and the risk of further damage must guide the next step. Near the end, a mysterious plumbing leak reminds him that strange, unexplained problems are not unique to computers and that life's messiness is part of what makes the journey wonderful.
