December 29, 2007
The last broadcast of 2007 looks backward and forward at once. A failing-laptop call shows Dr. Dave finding value where others might see junk: eBay can supply a practical replacement screen or help the owner sell useful parts instead of throwing the computer away. The RadioTime interview gives him a chance to explain his own medium: radio is about personalities and quality audio content, not whether it arrives through AM, FM, satellite or the Internet, and technological change should be treated as an opportunity rather than a threat. The show also preserves the brothers' unapologetically personal relationship with listeners, the end of Netscape as a major Internet-history moment and a perfectly relatable office joke about printers that fail only when the meeting is about to start.
