January 12, 2008
The January 12 show preserves Dr. Dave as both storyteller and practical adviser. A CES prank reminds him of secretly changing channels in a Las Vegas bar and quietly watching everyone search for the remote. A song then carries Dr. Dave and Evil Steve back to a brick row house on Congress Street in southeast Washington, where a ten- or eleven-year-old Dr. Dave played bass and took pride in learning the one riff the better bassist could not; the same conversation recalls the Internet reconnecting their mother with a friend after 45 years. His professional philosophy appears in compact form when he says experts know which rules to break and, more importantly, that a recommendation must fit the average person who has to buy, understand and implement it.
