November 15, 2008

The November 15 show repeatedly asks people to fit technology to their lives rather than surrender their lives to technology. Dr. Dave and Evil Steve say there is nothing wrong with remaining analog, recommend a grandparents site because it values time with grandchildren over spending and show how Evil Steve's eye for white space shapes their advice about presentations. Dr. Dave admits when he does not know a copyright answer, returns after the break with useful starting points and later explains that technical work requires accepting that learning is hard and sometimes feeling foolish. A family-photo backup call shows the same personal approach: protect what cannot be replaced and change the plan to match the person asking for help. Big John, the original producer of the nationwide show, calls from his new law-enforcement career and says both he and Dr. Dave were made for their work. Early USB 3.0 news and a farmer's account of GPS-guided agriculture preserve two very different views of technological change.
