August 1, 2009

A frustrated printer owner is ready to replace her machine until Dr. Dave discovers it simply has no ink cartridges, a perfect example of his advice to calm down and check the basics. Dr. Dave admits sending a friend the wrong scanner link and describes how unexpectedly good customer service rescued his mistake. Another call brings out his belief that help must begin by meeting a person at her actual level of experience, while a discussion of search engines defines the rare combination of technical sophistication and simple presentation as a “magic place.” At home, the brothers joke that the whole Mason family are late-night sleepers; at work, Dr. Dave fixes a friend's supposedly obsolete computer in minutes after asking permission to look at the basics.
