In the first preserved bunker-era show, Dr. Dave and Evil Steve settle into internet-centered broadcasting while a caller tells them how much he missed the program and is glad to hear it online. Dr. Dave uses 3D printing, repair utilities and software design to return to a central belief: powerful technology should remain as simple as possible, and a person must honestly judge whether a tool is safe for them to use. He remembers the rise and fall of Comdex, imagines a 1991 Computer Talk broadcast reaching listeners nineteen light-years away, and talks warmly about racers he knows. The show also captures the brothers guessing a favorite song, Evil Steve’s water-damaged phone and contemporary reactions to online behavior and the approaching first iPad release.
