Dr. Dave begins with a durable rule for both technology and public life: do not trust a forwarded claim merely because it came from a friend; verify it. The show also captures Facebook beginning to let members export their own information, Google 411 disappearing as connected smartphones took over its job and renewed operating-system competition appearing on netbooks. Family life enters through Linda’s birthday gathering, Dr. Dave's son Nick’s football team and the Mason family’s joking description of greeting one another with chest bumps. Behind the scenes, an anticipated guest never reaches the air, while Dr. Dave and Evil Steve turn even an ordinary keyboard shortcut into what they proudly call “informatively stupid” radio.
