Caller Alan's return supplies the warmest moment: he says he misses Dr. Dave and Evil Steve, they immediately say they miss him too and the conversation slips naturally into memories of their old Test and Tune gatherings. Dr. Dave explains why he did not raise his sons to spend every hour behind the newest computer, arguing that children need to climb trees, fall down, learn and live outside technology. De La Soul's attempt to distribute its own music leads to an anonymous story about a talented singer who spent decades paying a record company and to Dr. Dave's warning that enthusiasm and ambition can hide the cost of a major contract. A tinfoil hat found beneath the studio desk turns out to be a practical soldering heat shield and an invitation for more brotherly jokes. The historical policy feature captures Dr. Dave's concern that a Comcast-Time Warner combination could reduce consumer choice and his hope that competition would lower prices and improve service.
