The most personal section follows Dr. Dave's son Nick into his first rugby game after football and wrestling, with Dr. Dave and Evil Steve proudly predicting that his Mason toughness will suit the new sport. The brothers also look back on their unofficial place around Team Spencer and Downing Atlanta Racing, the otherworldly sound of four-rotor Mazdas and the people they still remember from those years. An intermittent amplifier failure produces one of Dr. Dave's clearest consulting lessons: frustration makes people abandon discipline, but a useful test must reproduce the same setup and continue long enough for the failure to appear. He then reduces the whole craft to doing the next right thing rather than merely doing anything.
